Jonathan has a lifelong passion for creating and editing landscapes. He holds a firm belief in using natural, existing landscapes to help create beautiful outdoor spaces. He believes that landscapes should change over time, creating plantings that get better each year as they are grown into.
Jonathan continues to hone his design sense with a love for art, architecture and interior design. You'll often find him exploring new buildings, browsing the museums of Boston and Providence.
Jonathan grew up in New York City and summered in Quonochontaug, Rhode Island. He started his journey into landscape architecture at Brown University, where he studied Botany. After spending a year studying Landscape Architecture at the University of Tennessee, he returned to the northeast. He started his own company, now known as Jonathan O’Brien Landscaping, Inc. after working as the staff landscape architect for Briggs Nursery for 15 years.
